10 Benefits of Vitamin C serum

If you want to look like a 20-something well into your 40’s, do something more than pray that your youthful good genes kick in. Follow the road many a celebrity like Victoria Secret models Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio have taken, and commit to using anti-aging vitamin C serum to help maintain a healthy, youthful complexion long into the future.
Ideal for women of all ages and skin types, the skin care benefits of vitamin C serum are numerous, beginning with the most popular – it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles.

Promotes Collagen Production

The bane of any woman’s existence are fine lines and wrinkles. But rather than give into the abyss of aging, the regular use of vitamin C products can combat their very appearance because of their concentrated levels of antioxidant-rich vitamin C, which helps boost collagen production, filling in fine lines and wrinkles. As a result, you may find that you have more youthful looking skin without the need for any expensive and potentially risky cosmetic work!

Protects Skin From Sun Damage

In addition to its anti-aging benefits, topical vitamin C is also great for protecting your skin from damage—especially from the sun's UVA and UVB rays. That's because vitamin C is an antioxidant, so it naturally helps to strengthen your skin and repel things that could damage it. Of course, topical vitamin C should not be considered an alternative to wearing sunscreen, but when combined with regular sunscreen application, it can really work wonders for your skin.

Reduces Under-Eye Circles

Vitamin C has also been found to help even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of under-eye circles. This is great for those who are tired of trying to conceal the dark circles under their eyes and want to enjoy a more youthful, bright, and vibrant appearance.

Speeds Up Healing

Studies have also found that high levels of Vitamin C can help to speed up the body's natural healing processes. This makes it ideal for use on the face and other areas of skin, as it can help to heal small cuts, acne scars, and other blemishes more quickly and effectively.

Reduces Skin Discoloration

If you suffer from skin redness or other discoloration of the skin, then a quality vitamin C serum may also be able to help you achieve a more uniform skin tone and better complexion. Specifically, vitamin C is great for reducing embarrassing redness. With just a few uses, you may find that you have a more even skin tone.

Keeps Skin Looking Younger

No matter what your age, it's always a good idea to be preemptive about avoiding wrinkles, sagging skin, fine lines, and other signs of aging. Vitamin C can help your skin look younger for longer, not only by stimulating collagen production, but by evening out your skin tone and brightening your complexion as well.

Improves Hydration and Moisture

If you suffer from dry skin, vitamin C is a must. This is especially true if you have tried using moisturisers and cremes in the past, only to find that your skin is still dry and flaky. With topical vitamin C products, you can enjoy the high concentration of vitamins that your body truly needs to improve moisture content and overall hydration.

Creates Brighter, Healthier Skin

In addition to improving your skin's overall complexion, vitamin C can brighten otherwise dull skin, allowing it to look healthier and more vibrant. Strong concentrations of this vitamin leave the skin looking and feeling replenished and revitalized.

Reduces Inflammation

It has also been found that vitamin C, in high enough concentrations, has inflammation-reducing qualities. This is ideal for people who tend to wake up in the morning with unsightly puffiness around the eyes or other areas of the skin/face. A little bit of vitamin C serum can go a long way here.

Speeds Up Healing of Sunburns

Finally, in addition to protecting your skin from sun damage, vitamin C can also be effective in helping to speed up healing of sunburns. Apply some after you have been sun burned, and the vitamins will help to promote faster healing so you can get rid of redness and find relief from itching, burning, and other symptoms associated with sunburn.
These are just some of the many benefits of vitamin C as it pertains to your skin and face. And while it's easy to go out and find lotions, cremes, and other moisturisers at your local drug store that claim to contain vitamin C, it's important to realise that your skin needs a very high concentration of this vitamin in order to see results. This is why you're encouraged to use concentrated rather than a basic creme or lotion.

About Vitamin C Serum

a bottle of artnaturals Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C is an essential vitamin that the body needs for a number of reasons. However, it proves most beneficial to the skin—particularly around the face. For this reason, many people these days use skin-care products that contains vitamin C, such as concentrated vitamin C serums that are designed for use on sensitive facial skin.
Essentially, vitamin C serum is a oil- and water-based liquid that contained highly concentrated amounts of vitamin C. Serums are different from cremes and other products with vitamin C because of the significantly higher concentrations, which allow people to get the most out of the product and see more noticeable results.

Why Use It?

Many people opt for topical vitamin C as opposed to other chemical serums and skin care products because vitamin C serum is completely natural. There is no concern about how your skin is going to react because there are no harsh chemicals or other questionable ingredients. As a result, vitamin C serums are formulated and infused to be gentle enough for everyday use. The same simply cannot be said of many other skin care products on the market.

How to Use It

The best way to use a topical vitamin C is to simply apply a small amount of it once or twice a day (depending on your skin type) to clean, dry skin. It should be applied before you begin applying your makeup (give it time to dry), but after you use your daily facial toner (should you choose to use one). From there, simply continue with your regular makeup and skin care routine.

How to Get Rid of Jowls

In humans, jowls are excess or saggy skin on the neck, just below the jawline and chin. Almost everyone develops at least minor jowls as they age and their skin becomes less elastic.

Several factors, including heredity, sterss, repetitive facial habits, and lifestyle choices, can cause more pronounced jowls at almost any age.
In this article, learn about exercises and treatments to get rid of jowls, as well as how to help prevent them.

Causes

Though several factors are known to increase the likelihood and severity of jowls, their ultimate cause is aging.
As the skin ages, it starts to lose some of the compounds that help keep its shape, specifically fat and the connective tissue proteins elastin and collagen.
The skin also tends to become drier and thinner, making it more difficult to maintain its form. As the skin becomes less resilient and full, it becomes more vulnerable to gravity and slowly begins to sag.
Sagging skin around the cheeks and mouth falls to the area around the chin and jawline, creating jowls.
Risk factors for jowls include:
  • history of sunburn
  • excessive or chronic alcohol use
  • smoking
  • chronic or severe dehydration
  • chronic or severe stress
  • diets low in antioxidants, healthful fats, and other essential nutrients
  • habits or expressions that overuse the cheek, mouth, and jaw muscles, such as frowning, chewing gum, and talking on the cell phone for a long time
  • skin allergens, ranging from air pollution to cosmetics
  • poor skin hygiene
  • lack of exercise
  • cleansing the skin too aggressively
  • physical trauma or injury to the facial and jaw muscles and skin
  • a family history of jowls
  • extreme or rapid weight loss
  • severe or chronic illness

Some research shows that facial exercises, and exercise in general, can help reduce the appearance and severity of jowls by making the facial, jaw, and neck muscles better able to hold their shape.
A 2014 review concluded that while the statistical evidence is still weak.
However, all of the available studies exploring the effect of facial exercises on facial rejuvenation reported positive outcomes.
Exercise also significantly improves several factors that contribute to the overall health of the skin. This may help reduce the age of onset, severity, and appearance of jowls.
Any exercise that engages or stretches the facial muscles evenly without overusing them may help reduce jowls.
Most recommended exercises should be done one after another to ensure the facial muscles are worked evenly. People should hold each exercise for 5 to 20 seconds before releasing. Each exercise can be repeated 8 to 12 times, several times daily.
Common facial exercises that may help improve jowls include:
  • Yawning and opening the mouth as far as possible, then closing it very slowly without letting the teeth touch.
  • Puckering the lips outwards. This exercise works best when done lying down, and by using the fingers to draw the sides of the mouth downwards.
  • Blowing the cheeks up as far as comfortable.
  • Chewing with the head tilted slightly up.
  • Grinning as widely as comfortable then slowly tilting the head up and down.
  • Putting the lower lip on the top lip and tilting the head up.
  • Lying down flat, curling the neck in towards the chest with the tongue pressing on the roof of the mouth.
  • Humming with the tongue pressed against the roof of the mouth.
  • Saying the sounds "o" followed by "e," using more force than usual and exaggerating mouth movements.

Treatment

Jowls are usually harmless and do not require medical attention. But for some people, having severe or very noticeable jowls makes them feel uncomfortable, or causes them anxiety and lowers their self-confidence.
Medical treatment options for jowls are considered elective procedures or therapies, meaning most insurance companies do not cover them.
A dermatologist or plastic surgeon will usually perform jowl surgeries and procedures in a clinic or hospital setting.
Popular treatment options for jowls include:

Fillers

Fillers are compounds that are injected into the cheeks to fill in the places where fat has been lost from the skin.
Lifting the cheeks also naturally lifts the skin around the jawline and corners of the mouth.
Fillers can also be injected directly into the jowl area to produce a fuller appearance. A 2014 study found that nearly 95.6 percent of people who received filler injections said they were "happy" or "delighted" with the results.
Compounds commonly used as fillers include:
  • hyaluronic acid
  • poly-l-lactic acid
  • polymethyl methacrylate
  • calcium hydroxylapatite
  • silicone
How long the effect of fillers lasts depends on the severity of the jowls, the structure of the face, the dosage of filler, and the number of injections given.
Many people find the results from facial fillers last anywhere between 2 and 4 years.
Fillers are typically more effective in people between the ages of 30 and 50. In people over the age of 50, additional procedures may be undertaken alongside fillers.
Popular brand-name injectable facial fillers include:
  • Juvederm
  • Voluma
  • Restylane
  • Neck lift
During most neck lifts, a surgeon will make a cut along the side of the face and under the chin, then reposition and sculpt fat and tissues in the jaw and cheek. They will also cut away some excess skin and tighten some of the surrounding muscles.
Neck lifts are widely considered the most effective treatment for jowls, but the surgery has a long recovery time and carries the most significant risk of complications. The most common complications are scarring and infection.
Neck lifts are also very expensive compared to other treatment options for jowls.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy involves the use of ultrasound therapy to stimulate the long-term production of collagen in the deep layers of the skin.
Ultherapy only requires one session, and people can usually return to their everyday activities immediately after the procedure.
Most people notice a continual improvement in skin tightness and firmness several months after treatment.

In one study, nearly 70 % of participants still saw improvements around their neck and jawline 3 months after the ultrasound therapy.

Other treatments

Additional treatment options for jowls include:
  • laser therapy
  • chemical peels
Less invasive alternative therapies are becoming more commonly used to treat jowls, but most require more studies to determine whether they are effective.
Additional therapies that may help treat jowls include:
  • acupuncture and acupressure
  • facial or lymphatic massage
  • face building
  • face yoga

What is Dermapen Treatment ?

For the last few weeks I am receiving a lot of emails with questions:
What is Dermapen treatment?
What is the difference between Dermaroller and Dermapen?
What does it do ?
Is it safe?
Do I need it?

                                        The Answer is Here

Dermapen Treatment involves injecting microscopic quantities of natural extracts,
homeopathic agents, pharmaceuticals and vitamins directly in to the middle layer of
skin leaving the skin with an immediate glow.

The Dermapen uses micro-needling technology and has a huge effect on collagen
 and elastin rejuvenation.

Active ingredients from the products used are delivered to the deeper layer of the
skin via the micro-channels.

This mechanism of injury doesn’t tear the skin like dermal rollers, which makes
DermaPen less traumatic to the skin.

The treatment is performed by moving the pen over the skin which creates a
number of micro-channels.

Your face will numb with a topical anaesthetic before the treatment is done. Minor bleeding , redness or slight bruising may develop but will disappear after day or two.

Each ingredient has a specific action with in the cells of treatment area and they work to reverse the ageing
process. The DermaPen is especially effective in :

* Reduction of Fine Wrinkles
* Softening of Medium to Deep Wrinkles
* General Rejuvenation of the Skin
* Reduction of Stretch Marks

* Reduction of Surgical and Acne Scars
* Improvement of Skin Hydration
* Improvement of General Skin Quality and Appearance

Face Exfoliation Tips

If you have sensitive skin, you probably stay away from scrubs because you don't want your skin to be a red, raw-looking mess. And if you're acne-prone, a peel definitely seems insane because breakouts, right? Wrong. Turns out exfoliation can benefit every skin type. Here's why:
In addition to revealing fresh skin cells, exfoliating removes dead cells from pores, making them appear smaller. Makeup also looks better. "It's like sanding a wall before you paint."
Find the routine that's right for your type and get glowing.
       1. My skin's dry. Will exfoliating strip it?

Not necessarily. In fact, flakes can inhibit the full penetration of moisturizer. In addition, oil can get trapped and cause tiny, pimple-like bumps. Your best bet: gentle chemical exfoliators (an AHA-rich serum dissolves bonds between dead cells) or a light facial scrub uses super-fine particles and vitamin B5, a total moisture bomb). Try one, immediately followed by a gentle hydrating lotion, every two or three days.
2. I'm way too sensitive … right?

Gritty scrubs are definitely off-limits but most people can benefit from a mild, short-contact exfoliating product. Consider a cleanser or toner rich in fruit or plant enzymes, twice a week, to deep clean gently.Use a cool, wet washcloth in circular motions to loosen and sweep away dead skin cells.
3. But I'm oily and acne-prone! Will I break out?

Stay away from rough physical scrubs, which can contribute to breakouts. Chemical versions — such as a face wash made with hydroxy acids like glycolic or salicylic remove grime and penetrate oil to break down pore-clogging dead skin cells. Charcoal masks absorbs excess oil, clay masks also does the trick for oily and acne-prone skin. Try it !!! You will be pleasantly surprised.
4. What should I do for my normal skin?

"Normal" usually means "combo" — an oily T-zone and dry cheeks — which can benefit from the Goldilocks of exfoliators: baking soda. In a waterless, powder-cleanser form like Bioré's Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub it's easy to adjust the strength: Add less water for a stronger scrub (perfect for the T-zone) and more for a gentler one (ideal for the cheeks). Do this two or three times a week.
Home peels are an option for your problem-free skin. Starting with a glycolic-acid concentration below 10 percent and slowly working your way up to stronger products, which help diminish fine lines and fade spots. Or, use an exfoliating gel that contains fruit enzymes,  that slough away dead skin as you massage it around on your face (it's like actual magic!).
5. Should I exfoliate in the morning or night?

Either is fine but if you use treatments at night like retinol, you may want to exfoliate before bed, as your skin will be more receptive once dead surface cells have been removed.
6. Can't I just use my body scrub?

No. Body scrubs often have harsher, larger granules, made to even out the thicker, tougher skin below the neck.
7. Should I avoid my eye area?

Some exfoliators, like  are specifically made for the delicate eye tissue. Always check the label before use a product.

How to Teat Oily Skin

Are your oil glands in overdrive? Do you desire to eliminate that annoying shine? Defend against zits, blemishes, and acne?

The best treatment for oily skin is simple. Yet it requires a constant daily and weekly schedule.

The subsequent five guidelines outline the basis for oily skin care...

    1. Tenderly cleanse your visage two times a day by a soft purifier. I suggest using a natural product.

    Realise from my mistakes...

For the duration of my teen years, I was taking part in an constant clash with overactive oil glands and severe blemishes. However I had no idea how to successfully deal with the crisis.

I tried "wonder products" and extreme face scrubs numerous times a day. Little did I realise I was in point of fact making my difficulty worse. The coarse medicine was irritating, not beneficial. Aggravated skin rebels by producing additional oil. A nasty circle!

The most excellent guidance for oily skin care is to control cleansing to daybreak and nighttime. As well as continuously care for your face tenderly.

     2. Use an astringent or a toner following cleansing. A toner will stiffen pores and smooth the look of your skin. If doable, reapply through the daytime for a fast pep up.

     3. Give your greasy skin to a mud mask. Also referred to as a "mud mask," this is obtainable at first-rate salons and private day spas. The advantage of a clay mask is owing to the rare power of clay to dig out and suck up grease from deep in your pores. This oily skin solution will result in your skin being clear and beaming.

    4. Exfoliate once or two times a week. Exfoliation will:

* Eliminate dead skin cells
* Reduce oil creation
* Minimise the look of bloated pores

Exfoliation can be rough to facial skin. Every time go for a soft product and use lightly. In no way "scour" your features with anything. Don’t go to extremes, either. Exfoliating two times a week is perfect for oily skin.

    5. Utilise an oilless moisturiser only if required. Ordinarily a skin moisturiser is not vital for oily skin care. Yet there are exceptions. Oil and moisture are not the same. You could have oily skin yet lack moisture. This is especially true as skin ages. Or possibly your skin is a mixture of dry and oily. If so, put on a moisturiser to the dry areas only... frequently the cheeks and neck.

Consistency is the solution to healthy skin care. Incorporating these 5 Solutions for Oily Skin into your routine will put you on the trail to better, shine-free and imperfection-free skin.

6 Reasons Why Cheap Makeup is Your Worst Enemy

For many of us, makeup has become an important part of our daily routine, and for a good reason: makeup boosts our self-confidence and it gives us a fresh, appealing look that lasts the entire day. Nonetheless, just like it happens with perfumes, clothes and basically any other type of product on the market, you can opt for cheap makeup products or you can invest in expensive ones. Here you will find 6 strong reasons why you should invest in expensive makeup products:

1. They Are Not Properly Designed To Match Your Skin
It is essential to choose makeup products that match your skin tone, type and condition. You are unlikely to find very cheap makeup products that are especially formulated for sensitive skin. The more expensive ones have different formulas for dry, sensitive, oil, red skin and so on. These makeup products have two effects: not only do they manage to conceal blemishes and give you a fresh look, but they also help you treat or at least manage your skin condition. For instance, if you have very dry skin then choosing a hydrating foundation will keep your face moist and delay the onset of wrinkles, as it is a known fact that dry skin is prone to premature aging.

2. Expensive Makeup Products Last Longer
Nowadays, you can easily find a foundation that lasts 24 up to 36 hours and looks impeccable, and same applies to waterproof mascara or eyeliner. For instance, every “makeup addict” knows that eyeliners can smudge and make you look very tired, but expensive eyeliner will stay in place until you remove it with special makeup tissues. Same applies to mascara: waterproof mascara does not come cheap, and if it does then it is usually not very resistant.

3. The Quality Of The Ingredients is Lacking
Nowadays, many makeup manufacturers have started to switch from synthetic ingredients to natural ingredients, which are not only better but also healthier. Organic makeup ingredients are just as good as artificial ingredients, and they are also friendlier with your skin: besides, they are a great choice for those who have sensitive skin and who are allergic to traditional makeup products. Quality is never cheap, and that is a known fact. The price of the makeup is usually a very good indicator of its quality, and expensive brands are generally a better choice than the drugstore makeup products. After all, famous brands have a reputation to keep and they do not afford to ruin their image with low-quality ingredients, thus the high price of their products.

4. Lower Overall Quality
Expensive makeup looks a lot better than cheaper products, not to mention that cheaper makeup has less staying power and considerably less pigmentation as well. Expensive makeup trends come in a wealth of different colors and shades, they allow you to experiment with various color intensities. This aspect is particularly useful for very creative makeup artists, although people with no specialized training can benefit from these products as well. Quality is essential, especially for unique events where you cannot afford to go wrong. Is your wedding day approaching, or you use to attend parties a lot and you always want to look flawless? If so, then expensive makeup will surely rise to your expectations in terms of quality and impact.

5. Different Packaging
While it is true that the quality of the makeup is far more important than the packaging of the product, the latter does play an important role especially if you are always on the go and you want to take your makeup with you. Expensive makeup is usually more compact and easier to transport, and it comes in a user-friendly, appealing packaging.

6. Expensive Makeup Usually Comes With A Return Policy
Another great aspect about expensive makeup is that most brands offer free samples that you can try in order to find the one that best meets your needs. Unfortunately, this is not the same with cheaper makeup, not to mention that you usually cannot return cheaper products if they cause redness or irritation. In other words, if you invest in expensive makeup (and you buy it online, where you cannot try it first) and you notice it is not compatible with your skin, you can easily return it. This way, you will not be stuck with a product you cannot use in the long run!

3 Essential Oils for Weight Loss

Lose Weight with These 3 Essential Oils

There are really three main essential oils that I really believe can help your body with weight loss.

1. Grapefruit Oil

Grapefruit essential oil actually works with your body in activating enzymes that help your body break down brown body fat. We know that grapefruit can benefit weight loss and that the essential oil of grapefruit actually comes from the grapefruit peel, which is very high in certain compounds like D-limonene and helps support the metabolism as well as the cleansing and drainage of your lymphatic glands.
When applied topically to the skin in small amounts, grapefruit essential oil is an excellent diuretic and lymphatic stimulant. This is one reason why it’s included in many cellulite creams and blends that are used for dry brushing. For that reason, grapefruit essential oil is the number one oil that can help your body in burning fat and losing weight because of how it activates enzymes in your saliva, which helps break down body fat in your body.
When mixed with patchouli oil, grapefruit oil is known to lower cravings and hunger, which makes it a great tool to lose weight fast in a healthy way. Add several drops to your water, diffuse it in your office or home, or massage some onto your chest and wrists when a craving strikes.

2. Cinnamon Oil

The second best essential oil to support weight loss is cinnamon oil. Cinnamon oil has been shown time and time again to help regulate blood glucose levels and something in your body called GTF, glucose tolerance factor. For that reason, cinnamon oil is also fantastic for anybody with diabetes.
It helps balance blood sugar, which long-term will help with weight loss and help reduce those cravings for sugar. Unstable blood sugar can lead to overeating, low energy and weight gain, but adding cinnamon oil to fruit, tea, oats, baked goods or smoothies helps slow the rate at which glucose is released into the blood.

3. Ginger Oil

The third essential oil that supports the body in weight loss is ginger essential oil. Ginger works because it also reduces sugar cravings and helps reduce inflammation in the body. It’s so important that if you’re going to lose weight, that you’re also reducing inflammation, and supporting digestion and absorption of nutrients.
The compounds in ginger are called gingerols. Gingerols have been scientifically proven to reduce disease-causing inflammation in your intestines and overall improve absorption of the vitamins and minerals you’re consuming. If you’re absorbing more vitamins and minerals, then you’re helping to support your body’s cellular energy and create weight loss.

Why to don't try, small things make a big difference :)

The Best Face Moisturiser

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid may not be the newest or flashiest ingredient out there, but it’s tried and true and seriously good for your skin. First off, don’t let the word “acid” fool you. Hyaluronic acid isn’t harsh or skin-stripping at all. In fact, it’s the exact opposite – a powerful humectant (aka moisture-binding ingredient) that keeps skin plump and hydrated and, yes, young-looking.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring polysaccharide (carbohydrate) in the human body. It’s present in large amounts in the spaces between skin cells, where it provides moisture, plumpness, firmness and suppleness to the skin.
Know how a baby’s skin always looks so deliciously dewy and pillowy? It’s because babies are born with a high level of hyaluronic acid, which keeps their skin plump and smooth. Unfortunately, the amount of hyaluronic acid in skin diminishes with age, most significantly after age 40.
While you’re never going to get back that perfectly dewy baby-skin, it is possible to help restore the skin’s hyaluronic acid content and give grown-up skin a younger, fresher, more supple look. One way to do it is through hyaluronic acid fillers, which a dermatologist or plastic surgeon injects directly into sunken or wrinkled areas to plump them up.

The other way to help plump up skin is to use a serum or moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid. While it won’t give you the dramatic, instantaneous results that a hyaluronic acid filler can, you will see benefits in the form of softer, smoother, more hydrated skin.
Applied topically, it increases hydration, improves elasticity and also reverses free radical damage, so it may have some benefit in protecting from UV damage. Bonus? Hyaluronic acid is one ingredient that works across the board. Every skin type, even oily, can benefit. Look for hyaluronic acid serums and apply one alone if you have oily skin or under moisturizer if you have dry skin.
